| On Sept. 27th, I guided a British mom named Nikki and her 4 months old baby Benji with Lily and Bella. That was our first experience to guide foreign visitors to the food market. I really had a grand day out in this city. Now I’m very glad to share with you my feelings and thoughts on that experience. That day was really memorable, full of joy and happiness. Thanks to Bella’s hardworking, we had a very considerate and customized routing. Plus, it’s a great honor to work with our founder-Lily, who helped us a lot=) We met them at 9:00 am at metro station near Xujiahui. Nikki is very friendly and easy-going, so after a brief introduction, we began to our first stop- local food market in the Nandan Road. We helped Nikki to know different functions of the market and also different vegetables, meat and fish. At that time, we truly realized the difficulties that foreigners have to face when they settled in China. They couldn’t recognize the vegetables or fruits even though it’s the sweet potato, the aubergine or the pomelo. What’s more, they need to learn how to keep balance with Chinese cooking and their cooking style. After the talk with Nikki, she learned the way that we usually cooked in the daily life. Our babe Benji smiled all this way and became the street star. lol On my way, we recommend the Meetfresh to Nikki. After Nikki tried Taro No.4, Lily introduced her hometown-Taiwan. “You must try first and then you can decide you like it or not.” said by Nikki. The next stop was City Shop and Century Mart. City Shop was a quick tour, since the price is too high and the choice is so limited for us. Century Mart tour is eye-opening. We checked, yes, checked, because we had to find the snacks without sugar for her little Milly. Plus, we saw different Chinese breakfast choices, like Chinese cake, quick-frozen steamed buns, noodles, ferment cake, etc. Lily is a nice guy, very talkative, cute and experienced. Because of her, we known better the place we live. Finally, we had a chance to have a lunch together in Ajisen Ramen. During the lunchtime, we knew Nikki worked for the remarkable BBC, her husband worked for an international school in Minhang District. They came to China to seek for an extraordinary and reasonable adventure. We discussed the female life and gossip things about the city. You can not imagine who you will meet and what you will know. Life rocks. Tips: 1) Smile always hits the point. 2) Prepared as much as you can and always have a Plan B=) 3) Vocabulary is not the first thing. Be an open heart and try your best to explain helps you a lot. 4) Good cooperation with your teammates. |
