Language was a big problem for me. Although there are apps/websites that can show you where to go, having someone explain a site to you helped tremendously. Also, something as simple as ordering food was a challenge and limited my site seeing ability. I was there to experience Shanghai. Food and life. Greeters made it possible. -Bruce from USA

My greeters were absolutely amazing. I had a great time. It would have been so much difficult to discover the city by myself. One of my greeters met me near the place I am staying - which was wonderful as managing the public transport system on my own would have been very daunting on the first day. They showed me around a few places. We had some interesting food. I think I've made friends for life. I will definitely request for a greeter when I'm back in Shanghai next. THANK YOU GUYS !!!! --Hammad from Australia

"It was a good experience for me and Shirlene was great in showing me around. A suggestion would be that to give people more options of having a greeter. I would have love to have more than one occasion to meet a greeter. Having say that, the next time when I come back to Shanghai, I will definitely be in touch. Thank you very much." -- Edwin from Singapore. |
"Thank you for accepting my request even though my accomodation hadn't been confirmed yet! This morning, I visited a part of Shanghai with my greeter, Zhuzhu. She was really great; I've had a wonderful day! She knows Shanghai very well, her English is really good, she's patient, friendly, polite, really nice. In two words: a great Greeter! So thank you again for that arrangement." -- Jeremy from France. |
Emily and Lily were knowledgable and what they did not know they found out from friends so that they made it possible to go everywhere. But most important was that they gave us the feeling not to be strangers, but welcome guests and they behaved like charming and enjoyable hosts which made it much easier to arrive in a foreign city. Thank you for organising this and all the best for the future." -- Michael from Germany |
I take this opportunity to thank the Shanghai greeters Association for their friendship and kindness. I came to Shanghai on Friday, the 17th of May. I requested for a volunteer and Katrina volunteered. She took me around to People's Square and The Bund along with her other friends namely Jessica and Vivi. They were so wonderful and made me feel at home. I thought I might not get a friend in Shanghai. Thanks to Shanghai greeters association I made a lot of friends in the last couple of days. Here is a small list of my Shanghai friends - Amy, Ethan, Markwin, Tracy, Jessica and of course Vivi and Katrina. Thank you so much, Keep up the good work. -- Sathesh from India |
